Every Sunday - Worship and Word at 10-45 a.m.
Bible Study 7-30 pm every Wednesday
SCF sends its condolences to Donald and Elizabeth Taylor - Donald recently lost his mother, Ena. Our love and support is extended to all the family at this time.
Thanks to Pastor Tony, who has recently built a new fence to replace the old, rotten one separating out land from the neighbour's garden.
Several people have asked for notes and bible references for the teaching Ron Axon recently presented so well and so comprehensively about "The Anointing Oil". Our speakers are always happy to help (and it's a real encouragement to know that you have benefitted from their message!) Please be aware that the majority of the teaching at SCF can be found on-line on our website, under the menu heading "The Word" or, if you have no access to the internet, a CD of each talk can be obtained from Vicky.
A Reflection on PRAYER: an invitation to be loved and nurtured. . .
Much of our praying is asking because there is so much we think we need. Some of our praying is frantic because we are in difficult circumstances. Sometimes our praying is manipulative because we assume that we know better than God what we need and what must take place.
But prayer is meant to be something quite different. It is an invitation to come home, to be loved, nurtured and refreshed. Writer Henri Nouwen puts it this way; "Praying . . . demands a relationship in which you allow the other to speak, allow Him to touch the sensitive core of your being, and allow Him to see so much that you would rather leave in darkness."
Prayer is thus the call to intimacy with the God of the universe, who is our Father in Jesus Christ. Prayer is listening to what He would whisper to us. Prayer is being renewed by His loving Presence. Prayer is being exposed, embraced, and healed by Him who alone knows what is best for us.

For those writing cheques for donations to church . . . the bank has asked that, rather than just using the initials "SCF", we should write out the full name (Settle Christian Fellowship) on the payee line, or cheques may not be accepted for paying in to the church account. If you are donating to the work in Africa, please indicate that on the reverse of the cheque. If you are a taxpayer and would like to discuss Gift Aid, please discuss this with Keith Waterson.
