“The Night the Angels came” (Monarch Books)
Born in Stockport, Christie trained as a midwife before moving to Burundi in 1990 to open a maternity clinic. She expected to be there just two years but ended up staying and opening a home for babies abandoned in the civil war that ravaged the country. The story is an amazing testimony to God’s faithfulness, protection, provision and healing over 25 years, as Christie’s recounts the way that CRIB (Children Rescued in Burundi) has enabled scores of children to find hope and a future.
she tells her own story of how she came to faith and provides heart-warming accounts of what has happened to many of the children she has helped.
the book really is an encouraging read, that challenges and inspires the reader to pray, to believe, to trust and to open their heart wide to the huge possibilities there are when we get into line with God’s plans for our lives. We strongly recommend you to read this book!
Thanks to all who helped raise funds for Christian Aid. This year is focussing on the need for health centres and midwives in Sierra Leone. The grand total from all the events and collections was £3,229.25. There was an increase in giving in each area of fund raising to give this excellent result.
Our AGM will be coming up fairly soon, so if you have an issue or question about the building of about finance you would like to raise, please submit it in writing to Denise Hayton ASAP.
Denise will be attending a CCPAS training event in late June to ensure that SCF is compliant with all current safeguarding procedures. We already have a safeguarding policy, but paperwork requires constant updating, as laws and procedures change.
For those writing cheques for donations to church . . . the bank has asked that, rather than just using the initials "SCF", we should write out the full name (Settle Christian Fellowship) on the payee line, or cheques may not be accepted for paying in to the church account. If you are donating to the work in Africa, please indicate that on the reverse of the cheque. If you are a taxpayer and would like to discuss Gift Aid, please discuss this with Keith Waterson.
