Mama Joy travelled back to Sumbawanga in June 2016 to teach the children and oversee acquisition of additional items. We purchased 10 mattresses which enable the children to sleep 2 or 3 to a mattress. They report having good dreams now which is encouraging. Each day they are stacked to give maximum floor space. The main room has 4 new tables for the children to work at along with some new chairs . It looks much more like a schoolroom now. Sinai has one table in her sewing room which will enable her to cut out her material and it will also house a least one sewing machine . We are planning for some of the older children to learn to use the machines. Pastor Kelvin has a table with drawers in his room and he is currently preparing the computers for use. The lack of electricity was a major blow as we need a consistent power supply to enable the computers to be set up and used.
We have also decided to cut back to two meals a day as eating so late was not good for the children . We will continue to monitor closely all we are doing. The children have made enormous strides in their writing and maths and are showing real enthusiasm for their learning. They are a delight to teach and some are showing real artistic talent.
