In June, 2015, Pastor Tony took a team to Sumbawanga to work with the Street Children. Joy Orwell and Pastor Kelvin visited other projects feeding the children and working with other orphans in different settings. Additional money for this feeding programme was given by Churches Together in Settle and District and with additional funds from SCF along with other donations , we have arranged for the children to continue to be fed on our return to the UK. We were also able to provide some medical care along with soap and haircuts . They loved singing Worship songs, hearing about Jesus and giving thanks for the food we provided. We thank God for these precious children and pray that we will be able to house them in safety and begin to provide them with basic education. Please contact us if you wish to be part of this work in bringing Hope to these children and giving God the Glory for His Provision.
We were so blessed to spend time with these amazing children . People stopped to watch them and listen to them singing , making music and hearing about Jesus. They called me Mama Joy and that first night we fed 87 of them. After the first couple of evening feedings, we found it was easier to get them together in the late afternoon and spend more quality time with them feeding and teaching them. There are around 200 children altogether .The numbers having grown from the 40 or so that Pastor Tony met 2 years ago. We are so grateful to Pastor Kelvin translating for us and giving up a month of his time.

December 2015 sees the children learning more about Jesus , as well as being fed , currently four times a week, they are learning to pray together and care for one another. They are helping Mama Mary, the cook, to clear away the plates and wash up. Pastor Kelvin has been visiting their relatives and they are so grateful for the care given to the children. Pastor Kelvin has also been looking at houses to rent so that we can get them off the streets and they can become a real family.
Please pray for God's Favour for this next step of the Project. Please pray for Pastor Kelvin, he is carrying a lot of responsibility but is an amazing young Man of God . We thank God for him and his commitment to these precious children. STOP PRESS!! WE HAVE RENTED A HOUSE AND HOPE TO MOVE 21 CHILDREN IN BY CHRISTMAS. PRAISE GOD FOR ALL HE IS DOING. |
November 2015 Update . .
After a few initial difficulties we are now confident that, with our support, Pastor Kelvin will be able to continue to feed and care for the children's basic needs (personal hygiene and medication). We have managed to make a few video calls and link up and speak with the children through Pastor Kelvin. There was so much excitement in Sumbawanga , not to mention the UK, when that happened. We continue to seek donations to help us feed the children and are very grateful for those who have given so generously. Could you Pop a Pound a week in a jar and then give it to us when you are able - it will make a huge difference to their lives. The children send their thanks, (Asante sana) for all you are doing for them. Please fill in the contact form if you want to pay directly into our Bank Account and we will send you the details. Thank you . God bless you for blessing them. |
